Disclosure: USG is owned by ReedPop, which runs PAX East
Spring is coming, and so is the release date of The Last of Us Part 2. The sequel to Naughty Dog's memorable dystopian survival story was delayed into May for some extra polish, but now, Naughty Dog is ready to show some of the game to the world.
In a blog post, Naughty Dog confirmed it was in the "final stretch" of production, putting the finishing touches on The Last of Us Part 2. Alongside confirmation of an extra batch of "Ellie Editions" of the game, complete with statue, backpack, and vinyl, Naughty Dog confirmed when players would be able to check out the next chapter in The Last of Us: in Boston, at PAX East 2020.
The first-ever public hands-on of The Last of Us Part 2 will be at PAX, from Feb. 27 through March 1. A short section called "Patrol," featuring Ellie and Dina venturing out of Jackson to clear out infected in nearby areas, will give players a glimpse of what's in store for May. Naughty Dog says the demo will span an hour of gameplay.
We went hands-on with The Last of Us Part 2 last year, and found its brutal combat shone in harder difficulties. While it won't have the popular multiplayer of previous games, The Last of Us Part 2 seems like it's shaping up to be the sort of thing that fans of the first would be into. It did make our own list of most anticipated games of the year, after all.
You can also grab a new dynamic theme for The Last of Us Part 2, featuring Ellie either somberly playing guitar in the woods or several angry guys searching for her with torches in the night. Everyone's a critic.
The Last of Us Part 2 arrives for PlayStation 4 on May 29, 2020. Keep up to date with all we know in our need-to-know guide.
