The Latest Breath of the Wild Trend: Launching Guardians Into the Stratosphere

It's the hot new thing in Hyrule.

The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild might be three years old as of earlier this week (and happy belated birthday!), but there are new aspects of the game being uncovered seemingly all the time. The latest community discovery? It's really easy to abuse the Guardians.

The Guardians are the mechanical, spidery creatures that roam the open world of Hyrule, attacking Link whenever they see him. As the video below shows, it's actually pretty easy to defeat the Guardian and send it flying, literally.

Over on the Breath of the Wild subreddit, this has quickly become the hot new trend in Hyrule. It's actually pretty easy to send a Guardian flying high up into the sky: all you need is the Cryonis Rune to give them a boost up into the air from a water source below the Guardian, then hop into the air and aim with your bow to slow down time, and then hit them with a simple arrow to send them flying.

Look, normally I'm not happy to see something suffer in this manner, but those Guardians are a real pain in the ass. They can spot you from seemingly anywhere close by, and once they're locked onto poor Link, he has a pretty hard time shaking them. The Guardians are one of the toughest enemies in the early hours of Breath of the Wild.

Don't forget, a sequel to The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild is still in development over at Nintendo. It's been a while since we've seen or heard anything of the sequel, but there's still plenty of information to be gleaned from that mysterious reveal trailer.
