Both the Xbox Series X and S launch next week as part of this fall's big next-gen rollout. Those hoping for a new set of scares on the consoles will have to wait a little longer, though.
The Medium, a new horror game from Layers of Fear creator Bloober Team, has been delayed to Jan. 28, 2021. The dual-reality frightfest won't be arriving for Xbox or PC until the end of January.
"It wasn't an easy choice to make, but one made due to the COVID-19 situation in Poland, as well as the current schedule of other games on the market," Bloober Team said in a press release today.
The additional time should, according to Bloober, give the team room to further polish The Medium. "Rest assured, the delay will not stop us sharing information with you," Bloober Team says. "And you can expect us to unravel a few more layers of The Medium's great mystery soon."
Originally set for Dec. 10 of this year, it seems like the delay should get The Medium out of the way of major games, including the launch of Cyberpunk 2077. As the Path of Exile team put it recently, devs don't want to make players choose between their game or CD Projekt Red's next RPG.
It's a bit of a blow for Xbox though, as the Series X and S are launching without the flagship game Halo Infinite. Outside third-party games like Yakuza: Like a Dragon, a lot of Xbox's current exclusives will be last-gen, competing with Sony's offering of Marvel's Spider-Man: Miles Morales and Demon's Souls.
The Medium will hit Xbox Series X and S, as well as PC, on Jan. 28, 2021. In the meantime, check out our thoughts on the Xbox Series X and the future of Xbox.
