The Next Total War Saga Heads to Mythological Troy
The land of gods and monsters seems to be the next saga locale.
Total War has gone many places over the years, from historical conflict to the likes of Warhammer and the larger-than-life legends of the Three Kingdoms. Now, it looks like the series is dipping back into fantasy with Troy.
The new Total War Saga was leaked by a print magazine appearing on newsstands, which is a little wild in 2019. It looks like Troy will be the cover story of the next physical issue of PCGamer, detailing what the subhed calls an "epic battle in a world of gods and monsters." It seems like the current title is Troy: A Total War Saga, though previous games like Thrones of Britannia went with a different naming convention.

Started a few years ago, the Saga games are Total War's way of visiting pivotal moments in history rather than an entire era. It might be difficult to do every great battle of Greece, but focusing on Troy itself and the myths that surrounded it could open up a lot of opportunities. Could we see gods take part in the battle, either playing mischief or wreaking havoc on the field of battle themselves?
It looks like a larger reveal is set to happen tomorrow at 3 p.m. BST (that's 10 a.m. ET), so we'll get a clearer picture of how the gods and monsters of mythological Greece factor into Total War. Hopefully the bite-sized experiences of war that the Saga spin-offs provide work out well.
