The debut of next-gen console hardware is just around the corner, and another game will be hopping into the launch window. The Pathless will go live on the same day as the PS5 as a launch title for Sony's new system.
The Pathless is the new game from Giant Squid, the studio behind the gorgeous underwater journey Abzu. Where Abzu focused on life underwater, The Pathless heads above sea level for a trip through the forest with a bow and an eagle companion.
As you speed through the forest, sliding and gliding around, you'll also have to deal with ancient puzzles and some nasty beasts. This ultimately results in some boss fights against big monsters that seems a little akin to Shadow of the Colossus. Luckily, your trusty eagle companion is there to make sure you're alright.
Published by Annapurna Interactive, The Pathless is also coming to PS4, PC, and Apple Arcade. Those platforms, along with the PS5 version, will all launch on Nov. 12 to coincide with the launch date of the PlayStation 5.
This joins the lineup of launch games for PS5, building out a bit more of a day-one offering for Sony's new console. There are already some big-name games, like Marvel's Spider-Man: Miles Morales and the Bluepoint remake of FromSoftware's Demon's Souls. Having a gorgeous indie game to flit through gives a little balance to that lineup.
If The Pathless is anything like Abzu, it will hopefully provide a similarly calming journey. We'll see what Giant Squid's latest can do on Nov. 12, when The Pathless launches for PS5, PS4, Apple Arcade, and PC via the Epic Games Store.
