The PlayStation Classic Invites a Renewed Examination of the PS1's RPG Legacy
AXE OF THE BLOOD GOD | We discuss the PlayStation Classic and continue through the Top 25 RPG Countdown!
Axe of the Blood God is our weekly RPG podcast hosted by Kat Bailey and Nadia Oxford. You can find the previous episodes here.
Last week's announcement of the PlayStation Classic invites a reexamination of a fascinating period for RPGs. Does the PS1's RPG legacy still hold up? And which RPGs should be included on the PlayStation Classic? Nadia and I discuss these questions and more on the latest Axe of the Blood God [download link here]!
We already know two of the RPGs that will be included with the PlayStation Classic: Final Fantasy VII and Wild Arms. We talk a bit about these classic RPGs, then go through some other possibilities. Valkyrie Profile? Suikoden? Chrono Cross? Breath of Fire 3? They are all interesting choices that reflect the PS1's unique RPG heritage.
Also in this week's episode, we celebrate the 20th anniversary of Pokemon Red/Blue's release in the U.S. by highlighting the best generation of them all!
