The Walking Dead: The Final Season Lives, Episode 3 Gets Release Date

Skybound is developing it, but around 40 ex-Telltale developers are involved too.

The Walking Dead: The Final Season's future was in question not too long ago. Telltale Games had canceled the majority of its projects, including The Walking Dead. Telltale's staff was laid off, save for a skeleton crew. It seemed that even with this being Clementine's last journey, it'd remain unfinished. Then Skybound Games stepped in, and with around 40 ex-Telltale developers, have ushered The Final Season right along so it can complete its four episode season.

The next episode of the season, Episode 3: Broken Toys, was teased at the end of today's Kinda Funny Games Showcase. The new trailer begins with a montage of Clementine throughout the seasons, showing the many close calls across her turbulent life, and ends with a name and release date for the first Skybound-developed episode: January 15, 2019. Development for the series resumed back in November at Skybound.

The Walking Dead: The Final Season was one of many casualties under the recent gutting of Telltale Games, after being canceled mid-season mere days before its second episode released. Clementine's story will resume though, and fans won't have to wait long for it at all. The first two episodes of The Walking Dead: The Final Season are available on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC.
