The Winner of a Samurai Shodown Tournament Gets to Exclusively Reveal the Yoshitora Character Trailer (Or Not)

The Winner of a Samurai Shodown Tournament Gets to Exclusively Reveal the Yoshitora Character Trailer (Or Not)

Win the tournament, get the scoop.

This weekend is Combo Breaker 2019, a spectacular annual fighting game tournament featuring all of the biggest games in the space. Among the competition is Samurai Shodown, the upcoming reboot of the classic series, and one tournament in particular holds a peculiar prize: exclusive access to the next character trailer for 24 hours, for them to do what they see fit.

The tournament will open sign-ups on-site and limit itself to the first 64 people, then get underway at 8 p.m. tomorrow. Top 4 wins a digital copy of the game, but the trailer is just wild. Someone will win a tournament tomorrow night, and have access to footage no one outside the studio has seen yet. How does that work? It is a flash drive? An unlisted YouTube link? I have so many questions!

We already know which character it will be, as the account states in a follow-up that it's Yoshitora. But what could be in the reveal? New moves? Hidden references? A second character? Only one person will know on Saturday night.

Sadly I'm not able to enter and compete for the scoop myself. But, if you're a SamSho player at Combo Breaker and reading this, feel free to reach out and help win us that scoop. Otherwise, if you're eager to play SamSho yourself, you'll only have to wait until June 25.

Sometimes we include links to online retail stores. If you click on one and make a purchase we may receive a small commission. See our terms & conditions.
