The World Ends With You for Switch Gets Japanese Release Date

No word on an American release date yet, though.

The World Ends With You: Final Remix is coming to Japan on September 27. We don't have any confirmation of a North American release date yet, but hopefully it's not far behind.

Square Enix recently released a new trailer for the Switch adaptation of its hit 2007 Nintendo DS game. It's in Japanese, but the character roll-call within is still easy to understand. Neku, Joshua, Beat, Rhyme, and the rest of the stylish crew is ready to roll. Weird how a decade-old game centered so tightly around fashion and style doesn't appear awkward or dated. Just goes to show The World Ends With You has individuality worth celebrating (that's why we talked about it on Axe of the Blood God!).

The imminent arrival of The World Ends With You: Final Remix was revealed during the Nintendo Direct Mini presentation that aired in January. We asked Square Enix UK if the game is coming to English-speaking audiences on September 27 in addition to Japanese fans: Square Enix says it has no comment. We also reached out to Nintendo of America about a potential English release date, but we've yet to hear an answer.

Time to play the waiting game. In the meantime, read Kat's examination of what makes The World Ends With You a special RPG.
