It's official: we now have a logo for the Xbox Series X. A trademark filing has emerged today from Microsoft for their upcoming next-gen console.
You can find the official trademark filing over on trademarks.justia.com, the trademark filing system for the US. Below, you can see the trademark itself, which comes in two forms with the black and white colors switched around.
So what do you make of the new Xbox Series X logo? It's quite a departure from the current Xbox One logo. For one, the logo has writing on it this time, whereas the Xbox One was just a circle with the Xbox "X" emblazoned in the middle of it. It's definitely a simplistic design at its core.
In writing this up, I've just realized how comparatively long ago it was that Sony revealed the logo for the PlayStation 5. The simplistic PS5 logo was revealed back in January of this year, and where the Xbox Series X logo is a pretty marked change from the current Xbox logo, Sony's PS5 logo was a clear continuation of the recognizable PS4 logo.
The Xbox Series X is still slated to launch later this year. There's been no word as of right now on a specific release date, or a potential price for the console, but for everything we know so far about Microsoft's next-gen machine, head over to our Xbox Series X guide.
