There Could be a Final Fantasy XV Game on the Nintendo Switch

A pretty weird Final Fantasy Switch tease from Gamescom.

Final Fantasy XV producer Hajima Tabata was on a livestream in the Twitch booth at Gamecom when he shared some upcoming developments about Final Fantasy XV, including a hint that some form of the game will end up on the Nintendo Switch. Only he said it in a pretty weird way.

"We can't give you any complete, solid details right at the moments but we very much do want to move out and do as much as we can with the game and the franchise," said Tabata. "There's another certain console out there people may be thinking of. It sounds a little bit like... Twitch."

"Everyone on the FFXV team loves this specific console that sounds a lot like Twitch, so you may want to think about something like that in the future," Tabata finished.

While he didn't actually confirm that there's a Final Fantasy XV project in development for the Nintendo Switch, it's still a pretty big tease to tell fans of the game to keep an eye out on a system that rhymes with "Twitch" and not have them expect some kind of new game on the Switch. Especially after the announcement of Final Fantasy XV Windows Edition and Final Fantasy XV Pocket Edition, which retells the story of Final Fantasy XV but with cuter chibi characters.

So whether the Nintendo Switch project is another Final Fantasy XV remake, maybe with some graphical changes, or an entirely new spinoff(FFXV cooking game please), fans can hopefully take Tabata at his roundabout words and keep an eye out for an upcoming Final Fantasy projects on the Switch. Unless Microsoft or Sony secretly reveals a secret new console at Gamescom (the Microsoft Xitch? The PlayStation Itch?).
