These Three Pokemon Have a Higher Appearance Rate in Sword and Shield's Max Raid Battles Until Early 2020
One older Pokemon, and two newcomers step into the Gigantamax spotlight.
By now you're probably familiar with Dynamaxing in Pokemon Sword and Shield, but what about Gigantamaxing? The latter ability is basically a super duper version of Dynamaxing, where a Pokemon can actually change in appearance when it's supersized.
You'll encounter Gigantamaxed Pokemon at random through Max Raid Battles, initiated with three AI or co-op players out in the wild areas of Sword and Shield. Turns out, three Pokemon have an increased chance of appearing in these special battles as Gigantamaxed versions of themselves.
Speaking of Gigantamax, until early January 2020, players will be more likely to encounter Gigantamax Drednaw in Pokémon Sword, Gigantamax Corviknight in Pokémon Shield, and Gigantamax Butterfree in both versions via Max Raid Battles! #PokemonSwordShield pic.twitter.com/ZG4C5l49Ya

If you're a Pokemon Sword player, then you'll have an increased chance of encountering Drednaw and Butterfree in Max Raid Battles. If you're a Pokemon Shield player, you'll have a higher chance of fighting Corviknight and Butterfree. These increased appearance rates won't be around forever though—they'll only be increased until January 2020.
It's unclear at this time whether other Pokemon will have their time to shine with increased appearance rates in Max Raid Battles, once time is up for this trio. But don't worry, you'll still be able to find Corviknight, Butterfree, and Drednaw in Max Raid Battles after January 2020, it just might not be as often.
