This is What Zelda: Breath of the Wild Would Look Like on Game Boy Color

All six console Zelda games as Game Boy Color titles.

There's something about The Legend of Zelda series that inspires our creative side. One artist on Reddit, for example, decided to take the six main Zelda console games and recreate the title screens to look like they're on the Game Boy Color.

When the Game Boy Color was released in 1998, it brought a splash or, you guessed it, color to Game Boy games. Nintendo even released a colorized version of The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening titled Link's Awakening DX to take advantage of the expanded color palette.

Redditor strimes32 took inspiration from Game Boy Color Zelda games like Link's Awakening DX and Oracle of Seasons and Ages to create similar title screens for the console Zelda games. You can see recreations of The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, Majora's Mask, Wind Waker, Twilight Princess, Skyward Sword, and Breath of the Wild remade as Game Boy Color games above.

Each title screen really captures the feel and tone of the console Zelda games, especially with the specific use of colors for each game. I especially appreciate how the logo for Breath of the Wild has the extra floral detail added, just like in the Switch version.

A Game Boy Color version of Breath of the Wild wouldn't even be that impossible as Nintendo once created an NES version of Breath of the Wild to test its mechanics. Maybe a demake should be Nintendo's next Zelda reboot?

It's great timing on strimes32's part, as Nintendo just announced a Switch remake of Link's Awakening. So soon we'll be seeing what that title screen will look like with updated graphics when Link's Awakening comes out on the Switch later in 2019.
