Today's USstreamer Retro Show Kicks Off the Mega Man-a-thon [Archived]

It's like a marathon, but with an N in place of the R. We begin at the beginning, with the original Mega Man for NES!

Today's weekly retro stream offers you a rare and exciting opportunity to witness the birth of something. Specifically, the birth of something ridiculous and ill-advised: A project I'm referring to as the Mega Man-a-thon.

Part one of the stream archive...
...and part two!

Beginning today, I'm making a commitment to spend an hour a day streaming a playthrough of every single Mega Man action game I can feasibly stream, beginning at the very first Mega Man for NES and wrapping once I've worked my way through the series' timeline to its loose ending in Mega Man Legends 2. Obviously, this will be a bit of a long-term project, and I may miss a day here and there (or a week here and there once E3 hits), but I intend to do my very best. I'll be skipping over spinoffs like Mega Man Soccer and RPGs like Mega Man Battle Network; I frankly don't care about spinoffs, and Battle Network would make for an excruciatingly dull live stream. I'll also have to skip Mega Man ZX and ZX Advent unless Capcom puts them on Wii U Virtual Console, because I don't have the means to stream DS games — and yes, I'm doing this with original hardware whenever possible, because I like to waste money on... uh, because it's more fun that way. Yeah.

I'll be streaming the original Mega Man this afternoon beginning at 4 p.m. ET (1 p.m. PT), and hopefully an hour will be long enough to finish the game since it doesn't have passwords. Then, beginning soon, I'll be streaming 30 minutes to an hour of nearly every Mega Man sequel, in order, on a daily basis until I wrap up the series. Why am I doing something so ridiculous, you may ask? Eh, mainly I just want an excuse to play through the Mega Man games and finally finish the ones that have been on my plate, unfinished, for years. (But if my boss asks, it's because we're experimenting with the idea of regular daily video content to strengthen USgamer's position as online media consumption to gravitate toward video and live content.)

Join me here at 4 ET/1 PT to see if I still have the mojo to finish the original Mega Man on my first try! And keep an eye on this space for future announcements. There's a lot of Mega Man games for me to play through....
