Torchlight 3 Just Launched in Early Access
The sequel was stealth-launched ahead of the PC Gaming Show.
Surprise, Torchlight 3 is out right now! We're about to see an announcement from developers Echtra Games at The PC Gaming Show 2020, but already, the sequel has launched to the public on PC.
Although it should be noted, Torchlight 3 is available under the Early Access moniker right now. You can download Torchlight 3 Early Access right now through its Steam page, although there's no release date as of right now for the game's full launch.
If you're unfamiliar with Torchlight 3, it was first announced back in January 2020, after being initially announced as Torchlight: Frontiers a few years earlier by Echtra Games. But if you're entirely unfamiliar with Torchlight 3, it's basically a top-down action-RPG, ditching Torchlight: Frontiers' MMO style in favor of being a more regular RPG.
Watch the video just above for an excellent breakdown of what Torchlight 3 is, and what changed surrounding the game in its transition from Torchlight: Frontiers to a full numbered sequel. Torchlight 3 can be played both offline and online, and the story will unfold in a traditional RPG fashion. Additionally, Torchlight: Frontiers was originally a free-to-play game, but you're going to have to pay up front for Torchlight 3.
N interview with a Torchlight 3 dev in the PC Gaming Show revealed that you can customize your own fort in the game. On top of this, the game is available in early access for $29.99.
Torchlight 3 is just one of many games lined up to show off new trailers and announcements at today's PC Gaming Show. We also just saw a bunch of new trailers from Guerrilla Collective, an indie showcase from the Media Indie Exchange and Kinda Funny. There were games resurfacing at the showcase that we already knew about, like Empire of Sin and Crusader Kings 3, as well as brand new indie games like charming mailman delivery sim Lake, and 2D hack-and-slash Gestalt: Steam and Cinder.
