Trails of Cold Steel 4 Is Coming to North America This Fall

First it'll launch on PS4, then it'll come to the Switch and PC in 2021.

Hot on the trail (sorry, the pun had to be made) of The Legend of Heroes: Trails of Cold Steel 3, the sequel will be coming to North America later this year, leaving just about a year between releases. NIS America has announced that it will release Trails of Cold Steel 4 for the PS4 in Fall 2020, with versions for the PC and Switch launching in 2021.

Trails of Cold Steel 4 is both the latest in developer Nihon Falcom's decades-long Legend of Heroes RPG series and the last part of the Trails of Cold Steel saga. It's a direct sequel to the third installment, which was released for the PS4 in North America last fall.

First launched in Japan in 2018, the fourth game in the Trails arc picks up with the Thors Military Academy class introduced in Trails of Cold Steel 3 while also sprinkling in some more characters from past Legend of Heroes games. Toshihiro Kondo, President and Producer at Nihon Falcom, tells GameInformer that Trails of Cold Steel 4 marks "the mid-point of an overall story that began with [2004's] Trails in the Sky." A brand new Legend of Heroes game is expected to launch this Summer in Japan.

A day one "Frontline Edition" for Trails of Cold Steel 4 on PS4 and Switch will include an artbook, the game's soundtrack, and reversible cover art. NIS America will also release a limited edition of the game—details on its contents have yet to be revealed.

Trails of Cold Steel 3 was just released for the PC (where you can also purchase the first two Trails games) and the Switch version is now dated for June 30, 2020.
