Two Sega classics are joining the Sega Ages collection on Nintendo Switch later this month, and both are getting some pretty neat new features. Sonic The Hedgehog 2 and Puyo Puyo 2 arrive as individual games on the Switch store on February 20, 2020, and Knuckles is along for the ride.
Each game will arrive individually for $7.99 and have some new stuff to entice old-school fans. For Sonic, this means some modern inclusions like Mania's drop dash, as well as a Super Sonic Mode and Time Trial with online rankings. But most importantly, the Sega Ages version of Sonic The Hedgehog 2 will include Knuckles the Echidna.
That means no waiting for Sonic & Knuckles to roll around to get your spike-fisted echidna fix. Though this version thankfully doesn't include some oddly named scrapped cities. The Super Sonic mode will also let you jump in as the extremely Super Saiyan version of the hedgehog earlier on, so there will be a few new ways to get through Sonic 2's classic levels.
Alongside Sonic is a fairly big surprise: Puyo Puyo 2, a game that's by most accounts a classic of the puzzle game genre. According to Sega, this is the first official English localization in 25 years for the West, and it adds a few modern features of its own. Two-player online battles, online rankings and a "quick rewind" function all sound great, but also, there will be a colorblind mode. It's cool to see a color-centric matching game get some new accessibility options.
Both games hit the Nintendo Switch on February 20, 2020 as individual games.
