Earlier this week, Epic wowed us all with a demonstration of their flashy new Unreal Engine 5. It's safe to say one Dreams user saw a challenge in the new demo, because they've already remade a slice of the gameplay presentation in Media Molecule's creation game.
You can see a brief snippet of the Unreal Engine 5 demo in Dreams just below. It comes from creator Martinitydk, and you can go and play it right now in Dreams if you own Media Molecule's game (something I plan on doing very shortly).
One thing that immediately stands out is that lighting source from above. The placement of the sun beam flooding into the cave from above looks absolutely stunning, and in the video description on YouTube, the creator claims they recreated the scene in just a few hours. As a fellow Dreams creator, I feel incredibly insecure right about now.
For a complete recap of the Unreal Engine 5 demo, check out the video below. This premiered at Geoff Keighley's Summer Games Fest event earlier this week on Wednesday, and it turned out the gameplay was running on a PlayStation 5 system, showcasing a small game called Lumen in the Land of Nanite. It is an actual game, but it's probably not one we'll actually be playing ourselves.
But, as our Mike Williams is here to remind us all, the Unreal Engine 5 demo is more a dream than a reality. It sure looks pretty, but we're a good while away from anything looking that stunning on a console.
