Untitled Goose Game Snags Another GOTY Award, A Short Hike Wins IGFA Grand Prize

No one can stop the honk.

The conference may have been postponed, but last night, the 2020 Game Developers Choice Awards and Independent Game Festival Awards were still held online. Some of the big winners may not surprise you, especially if you're a fan of a certain mischievous goose.

Untitled Goose Game waddled away with another Game of the Year award to add to its stockpile of trophies, while Remedy Entertainment's Control won the most Choice awards with a total of three. ZA/UM's Disco Elysium also got two trophies; the introspective detective RPG was also our own site's selection for 2019's Game of the Year.

Roberta Williams received a Pioneer Award for her trailblazing work in the adventure genre, including Mystery House, King's Quest, and co-founding Sierra On-Line. Kate Edwards, the former head of the International Game Developers Association and current executive director of Global Game Jam, received an Ambassador Award for her work in mentoring and boosting initiatives in the game developer community.

For the indie awards, Adam Robinson-Yu's pleasant A Short Hike took home the Seumas McNally Grand Prize as well as the Audience Award. Knights and Bikes, Mutazione, Heaven's Vault, and more filled out the list of excellent games that you should definitely check out if you missed.
