Today is Election Day in the United States. Across the U.S., those who haven't participated in early, absentee, or mail-in voting will be headed out to their local polling places to submit their vote for the 2020 Presidential Election.
Folks, it goes without saying that this has been a year. Frankly, it's felt more like five. It's because of the way things are going, and the way things could continue heading, that you need to get out and do your civic duty by voting. We here at USgamer will be taking the day off to ensure all our writers have the opportunity to vote.
If you are an American who hasn't voted yet, be sure to check out these resources:
- Even if you haven't registered yet, some states allow same-day registration and voting. If this is your situation, check out this database to see if you are eligible.
- Know your ballot! This is the year of the Presidential Election, but there are also Senate and Congressional seats in play, as well as down-ballot choices for local office and propositions. Check out Vote411 to see specialized info, including candidate stances on various issues.
- Be prepared! Know what to bring and where to go. Healthy Voting provides a checklist of things you'll need and can help you find your state's election website to locate a polling place near you.
If you have already voted, congratulations! And if you are not a U.S. citizen but still an avid reader of USgamer, we hope all parties will take some time to boost awareness of how important today is. Some of our friends, like Spawn on Me will be streaming today, so be sure to tune in and hang out with them too.
2020 has been an arduous year for many, and there's an understandable palpable tension surrounding today's outcome. What's important is that you make your voice heard. And if you need to check out today, it's okay to do some self-care: drink some water and play some games. In the meantime, we here at USgamer plan to keep working for good, ensuring voices are heard, and fighting for a better, more hopeful tomorrow.
