Axe of the Blood God is our weekly RPG podcast hosted by Kat Bailey. You can find the previous episodes here.

In this week's episode of Axe of the Blood God (download link here), Kat and Nadia welcome Polygon's Matt Leone to discuss his massive oral history of Final Fantasy VII!

If you haven't read it already, I recommend that you drop everything and go right now. It's an incredibly in-depth piece of historical reporting on one of the most significant games ever made. We're giant fans of Final Fantasy VII here at USgamer and even we learned a bunch of things.

Matt talks about the article's historical context, the process of getting it all together, and what it was like to chat with figures like Tetsuya Nomura, who have lately tended to remain out of the public eye (at least in the west). Afterward, Nadia and I talk about some of what we learned and how it impacts our outlook on Final Fantasy VII. Have a listen!

Also in this episode: We discuss the untimely death of Scalebound and conduct another Persona 4 Golden Report!

In regards to fishing minigames in RPGs, 2 recommendations:

1)Breath of Fire IV it had an addictive way of making people battle the fish by balancing the tension with a stamina bar. It was so easy, yet so hard, and it was pretty good. The Caribbean music that came up when you caught a fish was great too.

2)Dark Cloud 2 had a fishing game that allowed you to eventually take the fish you catch, and breed them for the fish racing league. I don't remember how it played, but I liked it.

The interview as great, and I loved how the creative journey of how the idea of the articles changed throughout the process.

A "dunce" cap question: How in the world to I leave a review on I tunes? I registered, but do I need it downloaded to use it? Apple products make me Windows error.

    Keep being great ladies.
