USgamer's RPG Podcast Reviews Pokémon Sun and Moon

AXE OF THE BLOOD GOD: All of the discussion about the latest generation of Pokémon!

Article by Kat Bailey, .

Axe of the Blood God is our weekly RPG podcast hosted by Kat Bailey. You can find the previous episodes here.

In this week's episode of Axe of the Blood God (download link here), we review Pokémon Sun and Moon! And we have quite a bit to say as we dive into every facet of Generation 7.

For this review, I opted to do a spoiler and a non-spoiler segment. If you want to hear all about the end of the story, Ultra Beasts, and the postgame, fast-forward to 44:15 and listen from there. If not, then fast-forward to 1:04:10! As a sidenote, I also took part in GameXplain's review roundtable, so if you want even more Pokémon analysis, check it out!

In addition to our Pokemon review, we also talk a bit about the Persona 5 delay and Conan O'Brien's takedown of Final Fantasy XV on his Clueless Gamer segment, and we read your RPG villain suggestions!

Show Description

Kat and Nadia recount Conan O'Brien's Clueless Gamer segment on Final Fantasy XV and discuss the latest Persona 5 delay, then dive deep into Pokemon Sun and Moon. Is the story successful? How are the totem battles? Do we like the new monsters? And just how glad are we that HMs are finally dead? (Spoiler: We're really glad). Note: Spoilers begin at the 44:15 mark and end at the 1:04:10 mark of the episode!

Music from Axe of the Blood God is courtesy of Lena Chappelle, who has also contributed the themes to Active Time Babble and Roleplayers' Realm. I also use music from the RPG Music Pack over at Check it out!

Yeah, Square Enix really screwed the pooch with this paid promotion. All they had to do was give Conan a demo where he fought some of the worst monsters in the game. Good thing he made lemonade out of what he was given, which he had to start at the beginning of the game.

If one was a Team Rocket goon (or any Team Pokemon Badguy), all you'd get is Normal, Dark, Poison, and Ice pokes till you stole different.

*Dramatic Pose* My villain pitch... So close to being made fun of... and then the episode cut off in the middle... It makes me yell out "NNNNOOOOOO!!!" like Yugi-oh.

I actually enjoy the idea of it being called an essay, I guess I was in an "In A World," trailer moment there.

Nadia should give us a report about her new PS Vita adventures on the next #BloodGodPod. Like which PS1 games she bought in the sale this week, and if she's tried Persona 2: Eternal Punishment before P4: Golden.Edited November 2016 by riderkicker

@Kat.Bailey Thank you so much. I come from "rambling" people, and in regards to that, the fact that you read it and enjoyed it is answer enough. Happy Thanksgiving! :D

This question especially goes to our resident expert@Kat.Bailey, but I'm open to other opinions too.
All of this Sun/Moon coverage is really making me want to play some Pokemon, but having a one year old daughter means I'm not going to be able to afford a 3DS anytime soon, haha. That being said, I have a DS and a GBA.
I played through Blue and Yellow when I was younger, and have started Silver and Soul Silver at various points in my life. If I wanted to start one now, should I go with Black/White 2? Should I have played Black/White first? Or should I go back to Emerald or Platinum? Edited November 2016 by kerobaros

@kerobaros I loved Platinum. I hadn't touched the series since Red/Blue either, but I really loved the daylights out of that game.

    @kerobaros If you can't afford a 3DS, then go for Black 2/White 2. Don't worry about playing Black/White first...

No good RPGs out early next year? Isn't DQ8 scheduled for like a January release on 3DS?
