Wasteland 3 Hits Funding Goal in Only Three Days

It looks like we're getting another Wasteland, folks.

Five days ago, InXile Entertainment launched a crowdfunding drive for Wasteland 3 on the Fig. Within three days, Wasteland 3 surpassed its funding goal of $2.75 million. As of this writing, the campaign is sitting at $2.85 million with 14,438 backers and they still have 24 days left to go.

"Wasteland 3 represents the most ambitious title that we have crowdfunded so far," inXile Entertainment CEO Brian Fargo said in a statement. "We wouldn't be here without our fans and backers carrying the torch and we want to continue to repay them by making the best role-playing games possible. With Wasteland 3 we aim to over-deliver like never before."

Wasteland 3 carries forward everything that InXile created with Wasteland 2. The sequel will be set in the frozen wasteland of Colorado. With their party of Rangers, players will venture out into the wilderness, seeking supplies needed for survival. Wasteland 3 features a more fluid action system, vehicles, environmental hazards, an improved dialog tree system, and the Ranger Base, a homestead that will grow and evolve with the player.

For the first time in series history, players will also be able to take on Wasteland 3 in multiplayer. Like Divinity: Original Sin 2, Wasteland 3 features cooperative play. Both players can either play together, or split up in asynchronous play. Once you've started a coop game, you can continue to play while your partner is offline and they'll log back into a world that reflects the choices you've made since. This is not a mode to play with random folks.

Wasteland 3 is planned for release on Windows, Mac, Linux, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One in the fourth quarter of 2019. So yeah, you have a while to wait.
