Ubisoft has confirmed an earlier leak this week that revealed the next Watch Dogs game would be set in the United Kingdom and allow players to control any NPC character. The third game in the series will also be called Watch Dogs Legion.
Today, the Watch Dogs Twitter account changed its name to Watch Dogs Legion and tweeted a gif along with the message: “God Save the NPCs. Reveal at E3 #WatchDogsLegion #UbiE3.”
The message is a play on the phrase "God Save the Queen," seemingly confirming the U.K. setting. Furthermore the message makes a reference to NPCs, lending support to the original Amazon U.K. leak.
The leak said that players could take control of any NPC in the game, similar to Driver: San Francisco. Except in Driver players could only take over vehicles. If reports are accurate, the new Watch Dogs will let you control any fully animated NPC.
Additional details say that Watch Dogs Legion will take place in a post-Brexit U.K., which will be tricky considering Ubisoft has gone on record multiple times to say that its games aren't political. Watch Dogs Legion was originally leaked on Amazon U.K. earlier this week, and Kotaku confirmed the leak to be accurate. Now it seems that Ubisoft has capitulated and admitted to the leak as well.
We'll see the full game reveal at E3 this year. Check out our E3 guide for more info, including press conference start times.
