WayForward Reveals Spectacular Shantae 5 Opening Animation From Studio Trigger

It's incredibly anime, in a good way.

It's time to whip that hair back and forth. While Shantae 5 is still on the way, developer WayForward put out a sneak peek today in the form of the game's opening animation, put together by well-known anime shop Studio Trigger.

Best known for its work on Kill la Kill and Little Witch Academia, Studio Trigger put together a 30-second opening for the upcoming fifth Shantae game. Featuring plenty of bad guys, some familiar faces, and a killer tune sung by Cristina Vee, it rules.

Studio Trigger is no stranger to making game openings. It's currently set to also produce the opening for the upcoming title from Skullgirls developer Lab Zero called Indivisible, and it's worked on games like Fire Emblem Fates and Project X Zone in the past. That's also not including the Little Witch Academia game or the upcoming Kill la Kill: The Game - IF.

WayForward, meanwhile, hasn't shown too much of Shantae 5 yet. It's slated for later this year, coming to the Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PC, and Apple Arcade. It's also been hard at work helping Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night across the finish line, as well as developing the new River City Girls, set for September, alongside partner Arc System Works.

Between collaborating with Arc System Works and now Studio Trigger, WayForward is increasingly becoming an extremely anime studio. And honestly? I'm very excited for it. We'll see how anime Shantae 5 gets as we get closer to a release date.
