We Happy Few and Middle-Earth: Shadow of Mordor Join Xbox Game Pass This Month

Xbox Game Pass announced a new slate of games available on the service for the month of January. By the end of the month Game Pass subscribers will be able to play games like We Happy Few, The Lego Movie Videogame, Middle-Earth: Shadow of Mordor, and Saints Row: The Third.

Game Pass is Xbox's Netflix-style subscription service where for $9.99 a month players can have unlimited access to a library of games. Microsoft announced last year that first-party Xbox games like Sea of Thieves and Forza Horizon 4 would be available day one on Game Pass. Xbox adds a handful of new games to Game Pass every month or so, and the service has become one of the most exciting features on the Xbox One.

We Happy Few, the trippy first-person action game set in an alternate 1960s England, is also Xbox One X Enhanced, meaning it'll look and run even better on Microsoft's more powerful console. It will be available on Game Pass on January 17. We Happy Few developer Compulsion Games was also recently acquired by Microsoft during its studio buying spree. Also available on January 17 is The Lego Movie Videogame, which is based on the 2014 animated film by Warner Bros.

Xbox Game Pass also announced Middle-Earth: Shadow of Mordor and Saints Row: The Third will be available in the service on January 24. Shadow of Mordor is the first in a series of open-world action games set in the Lord of the Rings universe. A core mechanic in the series is something called the Nemesis system, which creates unique high-ranking enemies with their own rank and personality.

Saints Row: The Third is a cartoonish answer to Grand Theft Auto's more realistic take on the open-world crime sandbox. To give an example of what kind of tone Saints Row: The Third shoots for, you can hijack a rocket plane while swinging around a giant dildo bat.
