What Remains of Edith Finch Brings its Bold Story to Xbox One on July 19th

The arthouse indie game is finally coming to Microsoft consoles.

Giant Sparrow's narrative driven adventure What Remains of Edith Finch will be getting an Xbox One release later this month, on July 19.

What Remains of Edith Finch is a first-person narrative game where you play as the titular Edith, and explore the sprawling home of the Finch family. Each room reveals an episode or memory related to one of the many Finch family members as you discover their, oftentimes tragic, backstory and learn why she's the sole survivor.

When I spoke with the developers about the game earlier this year, they likened the experience to the kind of magical realist and strange fiction of Gabriel Garcia Marquez and Haruki Murakami, so you know that the game's interests are literary in focus and depth.

What Remains of Edith Finch is the newest game from the same developers as the PlayStation 4'sThe Unfinished Swan, and is the first game published by Annapurna Interactive, the video game arm of arthouse film company Annapurna Pictures.

The game was previously only available on the PlayStation 4 and PC, so if you're an Xbox One player you'll finally get a chance to try out one of the most creatively ambitious titles I've seen this year. You can read Caty's positive review here.
