What Should You Buy in The Steam Summer Sale? 2015 Edition - Day 2

We take you through a few of the deals in the biggest Steam sale of the year.

Valve has launched the Steam Monster Summer Sale today, running from June 11 to June 21!

Like the Steam Holiday Sale, we're operating in a tiered manner here: there are Daily Deals, which will last for 48 hours from posting and there are Flash Deals, which pop up every 12 hours. As the daily deals change, we'll update the page here. Here's some of the games you should think about picking up for this sale, in descending order of discount. Not sure if there will be an encore day at the end, but when games you want come up for the Daily or Flash deals, that's the time to pick them up.

These deals are beyond your understanding, Geralt.

One big change this year is the all-new Steam Refunds. Since you have 14 days to request a refund, you can purchase any game during the Steam sale and if it comes up at a lower price, just return the game and buy it then. If anything, the Steam Refunds should make it easier for players to dive into the deals.

Daily Deals

These are the primary sales for each day, representing some of the biggest discounts. Today, the big gets are Wolfenstein: The New Order, the Lego Batman Trilogy, This War of Mine, and Wasteland 2. I also can't recommened Starbound enough if you're a fan of Terraria. The sales should all last 48 hours. Some games are cheaper when part of a large franchise pack, which can be found below.

Dueling for Steam deals.

Flash Deals

I'm marking this section as YMMV: Your Mileage May Vary. A number of these entries are listed on the Steam store page as being Flash deals, but their discounts don't have time limits. That says it's not a Flash deal to me, so it could appear cheaper later in the sale. You've been warned.

That said, highlights here today include Nidhogg, Rogue Legacy, Legend of Grimrock 2, Crypt of the NecroDancer, HuniePop if that's your jam.

Trine and Trine 2 are mad cheap right now.

Cheap Summer Fun

This last category includes titles that aren't Featured or Daily Deals, but they're really great prices on some titles that probably won't see additional discounts. These discounts are good for the entire sale, so you may be better off waiting.

Becoming a Hitman to fill the Steam Wallet.

Big Saving Bundles

As we make our final push, there a number of great bundles for people looking to get into certain franchises. Bioshock, Saints Row, and Far Cry franchises are going for cheap!

  • Commandos Collection (Commandos 2: Men of Courage, Commandos 3: Destination Berlin, Commandos: Behind Enemy Lines, Commandos: Beyond the Call of Duty) - $1.29 (90 percent off)
  • Flatout Complete Pack (FlatOut, FlatOut 2, FaltOut 3, FlatOut: Ultimate Carnage) - $5.99 (85 percent off)
  • Hitman Collection (Hitman, Hitman 2: Silent Assassin, Hitman: Contracts, Hitman: Blood Money, Hitman Absolution Elite Edition) - $7.99 (80 percent off)
  • XCOM: Enemy Unknown Complete Pack (XCOM: Enemy Unknown, XCOM: Enemy Within, DLC) - $9.99 (80 percent off)
  • Valve Complete Pack (Every Half-Life, Counter-Strike, Left 4 Dead, and Team Fortress title) - $24.99 (75 percent off)
  • Telltale Collection (Back to the Future: The Game, Bone: Out From Boneville, Bone: The Great Cow Race, Game of Thrones, Hector: Badge of Carnag, Jurassic Park: The Game, Law & Order: Legacies, Poker Night 2, Poker Night 2, Poker Night at the Inventory, Poker Night at the Inventory, Puzzle Agent, Puzzle Agent 2, Sam & Max: Season One, Sam & Max: Season Two, Sam & Max: The Devil’s Playhouse , Strong Bad's Cool Game for Attractive People: Episode 4, Tales from the Borderlands, Tales of Monkey Island Complete Pack, Telltale Texas Hold ‘Em, The Walking Dead, The Walking Dead: Season 2, The Wolf Among Us) - $61.19 (66 percent off)
  • Mount & Blade Full Collection (Mount & Blade, Mount & Blade: Warband, Mount & Blade: Warband - Napoleonic Wars, Mount & Blade: Warband - Viking Conquest, Mount & Blade: With Fire & Sword) - $15.29 (66 percent off)

Hopefully, this will make it easier for you fine USgamers to empty your wallet and make Gabe Newell's wallet even larger. Buy a few of these titles, forget to install them, and realize your folly when the next Steam sale rolls around. That's what I'm doing.

M.H. Williams is new to the journalism game, but he's been a gamer since the NES first graced American shores. Third-person action-adventure games are his personal poison: Uncharted, Infamous, and Assassin's Creed just to name a few. If you see him around a convention, he's not hard to spot: Black guy, glasses, and a tie.
