WoW: Battle for Azeroth Coming This Summer, "On or Before" September 21, 2018

Blizzard Entertainment has given us as much of a release date as we're getting.

Blizzard Entertainment opened the floodgates today in World of Warcraft. The upcoming expansion, Battle for Azeroth, is available to pre-purchase on the Blizzard Store. The pre-purchase page also gives us a hint as to when Battle for Azeroth will be launching: a Summer 2018 release window with an "on or before September 21, 2018" stipulation. That means the release could be earlier, but September 21 is our cutoff date.

The four Allied Races you can unlock.

Players who pre-purchase Battle for Azeroth get access to four of the Allied Races immediately. Horde players can unlock the Highmountain Tauren and Nightborne Elves, while the Alliance gains access to Lightforged Draenei and Void Elves. The unlock requirements are high, requiring you to be Exalted with the respective factions and have completed certain quests. If you're good to go with those requirements, you can begin a quest to unlock the Allied Race.

You have to be of the respective faction to begin the unlock quest. You can be Exalted with the Highmountain Tauren as a member of the Alliance for example, but you can't start the recruitment quest. As such, you'll Level 110 characters for the Alliance and Horde in order to fully unlock all four races. Once unlocked, the Allied Races will be available account-wide, but they have to be rolled on a server with an existing Level 110 character.

Digital Deluxe Edition mounts.

With the pre-purchase of Battle for Azeroth players also get a free level-110 boost, which should help in unlocking those additional Allied Races. The Standard Edition of the expansion will be $49.99, but the Digital Deluxe Edition offers a bit more for $69.99. Players will gain access to two mounts: the Seabraid Stallion for the Alliance and the Gilded Ravasaur for the Horde. A Baby Tortollan pet also comes along for the ride.

Digital Deluxe owners will get a host of goods for other Blizzard games as well. In Overwatch, there are Horde and Alliance banner emotes for Tracer; Horde and Alliance voice lines for Torbjorn; sprays featuring Anduin, Jaina, Sylvanas, and Saurfang; and new player icons for the Kul'Tirans and Zandalari Trolls. In Hearthstone, there's a new card back. In Starcraft II, you'll get Horde and Alliance sprays. Finally, in Heroes of the Storm you get a new Primal Flamesaber mount in three colors.
