After its release back in 2012 on the Wii, Xenoblade Chronicles is about to get new life on the Nintendo Switch. With a release window of 2020, Xenoblade Chronicles is getting a refreshed Definitive Edition for the new console.
Xenoblade Chronicles is an action-RPG from Monolith Soft, and has previously also been released on the New Nintendo 3DS, incompatible with base 3DS portable consoles. Its jump to Switch is looking to be much more drastic of a platform jump, as it already looks better than its Wii origins. From the trailer, Xenoblade Chronicles looks sharper on the modern console, and its world design looks as striking as ever.
In late 2017, the Switch-exclusive Xenoblade Chronicles 2 came to Nintendo's console as the first substantial JRPG on the platform. Since then, the JRPG space has grown more crowded on Switch, but even with Xenoblade Chronicles: Definitive Edition on the horizon, I say the more the merrier.
