The Yakuza renaissance keeps rolling on, with three more Yakuza games coming to PlayStation 4. And the good news, one is available right now. The Yakuza Remastered Collection is a single digital package that contains remastered versions of Yakuza 3, 4, and 5 for the PlayStation 4, with each one gradually unlocking over the coming months.
Yakuza 3 is available right now, with Yakuza 4 arriving October 29 and Yakuza 5 on February 11, 2020. A limited physical edition is also set for February 11, with a PlayStation 3 case for Yakuza 5 to boot.
All three Yakuza games have been upgraded to 1080p resolution and 60 frames per second. They'll also have some content not seen in the original Western release, including side activities like Shogi, Mahjong, and the infamous Cabaret minigame.
The Yakuza series has been gradually making headway in the Western scene, with Sega beefing up the localization process to ensure simultaneous international launches and companies like Microsoft and Nintendo suddenly showing interest in the series.
Localizations as impressive as those from recent Yakuza games have given the series a firm foothold in the U.S., so now seems the perfect time to get everyone up to speed. While it's not exactly a Kiwami-level remake, these later entries probably didn't need as much of a revamp as the first two Yakuza games. This does mean you can now play the entirety of Kiryu Kazuma's story, from prequel Yakuza 0 on through Yakuza 6: The Song of Life, on a single PlayStation 4. That's rad.
