Yakuza Kiwami 2 is Coming to Steam in Less Than a Month

The Yakuza Steam ports continue to flow.

Earlier today, Sega gave Yakuza fans on PC an announcement they had been waiting for since August of last year. That's when we received the first Yakuza franchise release on Steam, a port of Yakuza 0. Yakuza Kiwami launched on Steam in January, and since then fans have wondered when Yakuza Kiwami 2 and Yakuza 6 would release. Today we have half of that answer.

Yakuza Kiwami 2 will be coming on Steam on May 9. You can pre-purchase it on the Steam store right now. Kiwami 2, a remake of Yakuza 2, is one of the better modern releases in the franchise. Yakuza 6 featured the new Dragon engine, but featured a number of cuts due to the new engine. Yakuza Kiwami 2 fits in-between the stripped-down update of Yakuza 6 and Yakuza 0, the stuffed endpoint of the previous Yakuza engine.

Yakuza Kiwami 2 on PC offers "4K resolution, unlocked framerates, customizable controls," and more. It brings over the Clan Creator from Yakuza 6, the Cabaret Club from Yakuza 0, and further mini-games like Virtual On, golf bingo, and Toylets. Series fan-favorite Goro Majima also gets his spotlight in the brief Majima Saga.

Now that Yakuza Kiwami 2 is coming to Steam, fans are waiting on Yakuza 6 and perhaps Fist of the North Star: Lost Paradise. Yakuza-adjacent project Judgment is coming this June to PlayStation 4. That game has undergone content changes following the arrest of actor Pierre Taki on drug possession charges. The actor will be replaced, though the replacement hasn't been announced yet.
