The only time I've been in on the ground floor with a console was the GBA and it put me off being an early adopter for life. Like Kat, I made the mistake of picking up Rayman Advance instead of F-Zero when I rashly bought a transparent blue GBA from HMV the day after it launched in the UK instead of waiting for the arctic white model I really wanted. I'd never owned a Game Boy - I had a Game Gear - and there was some handy birthday money available to spend at the time. Although I played the crap out of Rayman it was a huge disappointment, and I don't think I touched my GBA again until I got Advance Wars and Wario Land 4 for Christmas. When the SP was announced I couldn't afford to upgrade so my original GBA lost a lot of its appeal and I missed out on some amazing portable games, which I'm still kicking myself for.
