    Such a shame.
Though I have to say, I don't fully agree with the "it's a primarily single player game" line. My fondest memories of the series all multiplayer. My buddy had spliced a PS1 link cable, making it about thirty feet long (up from the out of the box six). He'd be in one room, I'd be in the other, and we'd play Red Alert: Retaliation for hours. We still joke about hearing the other person's "Oh shit!" through the wall as a nuke wiped out their main base. Good times.

@INSOMANiAC They may have to leave the Sony banners in for authenticity's sake, if Sony is a Champions League sponsor. I remember the Xbox logo all over the Seattle Sounders jerseys and such when I was played on Wii U. I agree that it's odd, though.

Couldn't care less about The Journey, so this all sounds good so far. Now, tell me you have more MLS stadiums (and if we're deep-diving my dream journal, NWSL in some form), and we can talk about this being day one, and not "as soon as there's a sale", like FIFA 18.

Man, I wish this was coming to a platform I already own. Maybe I'll try giving PC gaming a shot this time around.

How about a game set in the Arkham universe, but instead of playing as Batman, it's a city management game? It would be a mix of Sim City (more for repairs than building from scratch) and This Is The Police (in addition to the regular crime, you have to plan for Penguin and Joker-types).

@chaoticBeat Oh god yeah, the beginning of any survival game is just the worst. Every time I start a new map on Minecraft, I end up inventing new curse words until I've carved out my base of operations.
"You glorfing strungange Creeper, get the kilmbar out of my house!"

@hdthroh I don't know if it counts for this list or not, but Night Stalker is a GREAT game. I had missed it the first time around, but played a ton of it on XBLA's Game Room, and a remake/sequel/rerelease would be an easy day one pick up for me.
Pitfall! is also an all-time favorite of mine. Again, not sure it counts, but you've got some great taste in classics.

While I'd agree with Nadia's pick of Minecraft (particularly in the "most played" category), I would also include The Flame in the Flood.

While I get the main thrust of this article, and am desperately trying to not sound like an old person, I think it misses a key point. Simply put, the Venn diagram of New Yorker readers and "video game players" (as though that's one homogenous group) has only a small amount of intersection.
And let's not fall into the trap of assuming that every person under a certain age is automatically a gamer, either. As little as five years ago, I was working part time at one of the big box chain retailers, and more than once had to explain how video games "worked" to twenty-something parents buying their 7-9 year old their first 3DS. These are people born and raised well into the period of time that gaming has been mainstream, and yet they were unclear as to how games and systems went together (I usually used some version of comparing them to phone apps on SD cards, if anyone was curious).
And like the previous poster, I, a gamer, hadn't played Fortnite until only a couple weeks ago, and even then only to fulfill a Xbox Live Quest requirement. It isn't like we all play all the same games.
