Please note that the 3 hour battery life hasn't been confirmed, that was taken from an early devkit.

It took me close to three hours to get to the first battle simply because I savored my time talking to each npc then using party chat. I love the laid-back feel of this series and the world-building it incorporates from the very beginning.

I just got back from vacation and Odin Sphere Leifthrasir has been excellent on my Vita while I was away. Playing through two or three chapters a night is great and works well on the portable format.

I remember being wary of the Vita before release since there was no way of playing PSP games without going digital on that front and I had many physical PSP titles. After release I was talked into buying a 32 GB card for when I "eventually" bought one since my PSPs disc drive was messing up and I figured I could always transfer my saves over and purchase my favorite games when they went on sale. which was rare since many of my favorites where Atlus games and Atlus rarely had sales for their digital titles back than. Hell, I remember getting an Atlus Faithful email for a special Vita sale of select PSP games about half a year after the Vita came out and nowadays Atlus has a sale for their games almost every other week.

Soon the Vita became my favorite system with a nice handful of solid native games, plenty of my favorite PSP games, an excellent selection of PSOne classics (I missed out on the PSOne when it first came out), and it (along with the 3DS) helped me to discover indie games. Overall it has been a great investment despite Sony's missteps. At the same time it's abandonment has greatly affected how I approach Sony's future gaming pursuits outside of their home consoles. I can't help but feel that if PSVR blunders even slightly Sony will simply abandon it like the PSP, Vita, and even that Wonderbook thing.

I'm glad to finally be able to play this game on a handheld. It has always been a dream of mine to play this game on the go ever since I bought my PSP years ago. I even made a little table to see how the controls could be translated to the limits of the PSP. Of course that was just a pipedream, but it was later revitalized when Muramasa Rebirth was announced for the Vita and when Atlus stepped up to help publish Dragon's Crown after the original publisher backed out. It's great to see what was an impossible dream become reality for once. Now Vanillaware needs to get with NIS and update GrimGrimoire.

This remaster has also answered some of my qualms with the original release in that the characters feel more unique thanks to their skill trees and the combat is really fluid, like a continuation of what we got from Muramasa.

There are quite a few stories in games that drew my attention over the years, but the ones that stood out to me are:

Odin Sphere - I loved how Vanillaware took influences from various sources like Norse Mythology, Shakespeare, and fairy tales to create an intertwining tale from five different points of view. I also loved how all the cutscenes were framed as though the characters were performing on stage. With the remake coming out in a few weeks I'm looking forward to playing on my vita.

The Tactics Ogre series - The political intrigue in the first game sold it for me, I really enjoyed seeing how the various factions all conspired to gain the upperhand on each other and unlike FFT it doesn't devolve into a spirit stone demon hunt halfway through. I also had fun playing The Knight of Lodis on the GBA, even though none of the original staff worked on the title. The tragic events that occur to your character really adds to the story and I love how it all ends up warping your character into becoming the main villian of the first game.

To be honest I'm not that upset as a Wii U owner. I still have plenty of games to play such as Bayonetta 1 & 2, Pikmin 3, The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess, and more. My only concern with the Wii U is that I hope Nintendo allows us to transfer our Virtual Console titles to the NX.

As for E3, I'm fine with Nintendo skipping it since it always seems to lose more and more prominence as the years roll on and Nintendo can always show their hand when their ready through their Directs as well as having their own press conferences for the media.

I am really excited to play this game, especially since we never got Grand Knights History. The thing that really excits me though is the fact that there will be campaigns for each kingdom, that was one of the negative aspects I heard about GKH in that it was solely focused on online play so its great to have a single player offline aspect in this game.

I loved the original Odin Sphere, slowdown and all. Honestly it was the story and art that made it one of my favorite games and now they are improving the gameplay using the lessons learned from Muramasa Rebirth and Dragon's Crown. I can't wait to give this another go on my vita this summer.

At first I was going to be disappointed, then I remembered that I haven't purchased a Square Enix published game in long while so no love lost. I still have plenty of other games to play and I don't really feel the need to play what will most likely be another lackluster SE title.
