I love those characters and those games. Nowadays a lot of heroes seem so bland and boring.

Let's not forget Asura's Wrath which was sooo crazy and fun and the weird and beautiful El Shaddai.

I consider the Zelda series as my major blindspot. I've never owned a nintendo console (or handheld), but i really want to play at least A Link to the past/Ocarina of time/Breath of the wild and maybe Wind Waker.

MGS 2 seriously blew my mind. The cutscenes were so fabulous , i remember playing with the theater mode again and again. This game was incredibly beautiful and yet the big shell was not an especially inspired setting, but the character design was insane .To be honest , i never dreamt of such a perfect game

I think the original Devil May Cry is also worth mentioning. the design for Dante, the weapons , the bosses and all the bosses is just flawless. It was pure visual entertainment and delightful gameplay. I will always remember this gigantic spider invading my screen and the final showdown in space with Mundus. For me, i couldn't get any prettier than that

Nice session Mike, i like the the new gameplay. It seems to require as much technique as Specter or torment or Plague of shadows. Cant' wait!

i am an old time Jrpg player and i want to get into CRPG, is this game a good entry point?

(so far the closest experience i had with the genre is the Xcom series, which i really enjoyed)

    Two obvious choices :
Sonic 3 & Knuckles, the game i played the most when i was a kid. great controls, great music, 3 characters, so many memories

    Oddworld : Abe's exodus
The two first oddworld games were so good. It was funny, movies with a stunning artistic direction and great replay value. The atmosphere, the lore, the story, the dialogue system, evrything seems so unique!

    Tough question.

I think i'll say Yuna from FFX. She is really a strong character, with a huge responsability and a great determination. But not FFX-2's Yuna, i don't recognize her and i can't stand her.

I also like other strong women characters like Ashelia (FF XII), Mitsuru (Persona 3) April (Wild arms 5), Terra (FFVI) or even Milla (Tales of Xilia)

First, i thought about Shin megami tensei: Nocturne because i love everything about this game and i never completed all endings.
But then i thought any game for the Disgaea series will be perfect. Those games are great and basically endless. So yeah for Disgaea 4!

I don't know if Spellbinder is famous in the US.

I will definitely play a game about that. Parallel worlds, magic, China, medieval stories.
The plot would have to be changed a bit but the setting would make a great game.

humour is lacking in AAA Games it's true but i think you can still find really funny things in japanese Games.
The best example is Metal Gear Solid, the plot is not that funny, but Kojima puts a lot of laughable things in this game, not just one liners. I like it becausE it breaks the fourth wall but on the other hand many players don't like it, and think it breaks the immersion.
I also have in mind the Disgaea series, which are a lot of fun with a nonsensical story, funny characters and crazy gameplay.
And what about the Ace Attorney Series? They are really funny with stupid characters.

i wanted to point out that because even if i had the best time on Monkey Island, Broken Sword or Discworld, i think japanese games have also a long tradition of humour in their games. It's a special sense of humour (a bit wicked and sometimes very anime-inspired) but it's still aiming at making your laugh.
